An officer of Mira Mesa Shopping Center in San Diego, CA, Elliot Feuerstein has spent more than 40 years managing numerous retail shopping center development projects throughout Southern California. When he isn’t working Elliot Feuerstein engages in philanthropy and supports a number of charitable and relief organizations, including Doctors Without Borders.
Earlier this year, Doctors Without Borders responded to a major ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). This marks the fifth time in the past 11 years that the organization has been deployed to the DRC in response to ebola cases. This time, doctors have set up in Kinshasa and the Equateur Province and are partnering with the country’s Ministry of Health to provide rapid response services.
The team on the ground in the DRC consists of an epidemiologist, environmental and sanitation professionals, logistics workers, and other health care professionals experienced in dealing with these types of diseases. In addition to treating the infected, their main goal is to contain the outbreak and make sure it doesn’t spread further throughout the country or region.
